ASME B16.34 Stainless Steel Socket Welded Gate Valve is a high-performance stainless steel socket welded gate valve, designed for reliable shut-off and flow control under high-pressure, high-temperature and corrosive service conditions.The valve features a fully forged or precision-cast valve body made of austenitic stainless steel such as ASTM A182 F304/F316/F316L, delivering excellent corrosion resistance, high-temperature strength and sealing reliability.The socket weld (SW) end connection ensures leak-free jointing under high pressure, making it particularly suitable for space-restricted applications, high-pressure pipelines and installations where flanged connections are not permitted.It is widely used in critical shut-off positions in petrochemical, power generation, instrument piping and general industrial applications.

Design Features

  • Austenitic Stainless Steel Construction:The valve body is manufactured from stainless steels such as ASTM A182 F304/F316/F316L or ASTM A351 CF8/CF8M/CF3M, providing excellent resistance to general corrosion, pitting corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. The molybdenum-bearing F316/F316L grade offers significantly better chloride resistance than 304, making it suitable for seawater, chemical and high-chloride environments.

  • Socket Weld (SW) End Connections:The valve ends are machined with socket recesses for full-circumference 360° fillet welds after pipe insertion, eliminating leakage risks associated with flange gaskets. Pressure-bearing capacity is comparable to butt-weld ends, ideal for high-pressure, high-temperature applications where detachable connections are not permitted.

  • Flexible Wedge Design:The wedge-type flexible wedge undergoes slight deformation under medium pressure to achieve self-sealing with tight contact against the seat. Sealing performance improves with increasing pressure, suitable for steam and high-pressure gas services.

  • Rising Stem Structure:Stem threads are located outside the bonnet and protected from process media. The rising motion of the stem during operation provides clear visual indication of valve position.

  • Full Bore Flow Passage:The valve bore matches the inner diameter of the pipeline, resulting in extremely low pressure drop and flow resistance, suitable for applications requiring full unobstructed flow or pigging operations.

  • Fire-Safe Design:Compliant with API 607. Flexible graphite packing and metal-seated structures maintain sealing integrity under fire conditions to prevent media leakage.

  • Anti-Static Device:Conductive paths are established between the stem, wedge and body to ensure continuous static discharge, suitable for flammable and explosive media.

  • Blowout-Proof Stem Design:The stem is secured with a bottom shoulder or retaining ring to prevent ejection under abnormal internal pressure, ensuring operator and maintenance safety.

  • Back Seat Structure:When fully open, the stem packing is isolated from process pressure, allowing online replacement of packing under operating pressure.

  • Low Operating Torque:Precision-lapped seat and wedge mating surfaces, combined with high-quality lubrication, deliver low operating torque, enabling the use of compact actuators.

  • Compact and Lightweight:Socket weld construction results in a small footprint and light weight, ideal for dense layouts in skid-mounted units, instrument panels, ship compartments and space-restricted systems.
